Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These terms govern your use of Waypacker. By creating an account, you agree to them. See also our Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You’re responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including during identity verification.

2. What Waypacker is

Waypacker connects travelers with hosts offering a place to stay (“Couch Mode”) and with other travelers for in-person meetups (“Meetup Mode”). We provide identity verification, fuzzed location display, and safety tools like Share Location, but Waypacker does not own, operate, or inspect any host’s home, and does not organize or supervise meetups.

3. Verification is not a guarantee

Identity verification confirms that a user’s submitted ID and selfie appear to match — it is not a background check, and it does not guarantee someone’s behavior, character, or safety. Use your own judgment when meeting anyone through Waypacker: meet in public where possible, tell someone your plans, and use the in-app safety features.

4. Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure.
  • Treat other users respectfully; harassment, discrimination, and threats are not tolerated.
  • Hosts are responsible for the safety and legality of the space they offer.
  • Do not use Waypacker for any unlawful purpose, or to circumvent verification or safety features.
  • Do not attempt to access another user’s account, private data, or verification documents.

5. Content you post

You retain ownership of the content you post (listings, bios, messages, photos). By posting, you grant Waypacker a license to display it within the app as needed to operate the service. You’re responsible for what you post and for having the right to post it.

6. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, poses a safety risk to others, or submits fraudulent verification documents. You can delete your own account at any time from Profile settings.

7. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Waypacker is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Waypacker is not liable for disputes, damages, injury, or loss arising from interactions, stays, or meetups arranged through the platform — those arrangements are between users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Waypacker after an update means you accept the revised terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
